On November 7th, the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) officially announced the results of its 2024 “Battery Passport” pilots. Among them, the LFP battery project, jointly developed by Gotion and Smart successfully became one of the ten MVP pilots of the "Battery Passport". This signifies that Gotion, as a global leading provider of green energy solutions, has gained global recognition for its exploration towards a more transparent and sustainable battery value chain.

The "Battery Passport" project is an innovative initiative launched by the GBA to enhance the lifecycle management of batteries, playing a pivotal role in the sustainable, responsible, and circular development of the global battery value chain. Its primary goal is to introduce a globally comparable "Battery Passport" framework as a benchmark for product sustainability certification. Gotion has excelled in this "Battery Passport" pilot project using digital methods to track the raw material sourcing, production, usage, and recycling processes of batteries, thereby promoting environmental responsibility and resource recycling in the battery industry.

Commenting on the launch, Inga Petersen, Executive Director of the GBA said, “We are thrilled with the results of the 2024 Battery Passport pilots and congratulate all participating organizations on this major achievement. Having the world’s leading cell manufacturers mobilize their supply chains, work pre-competitively, and report on harmonised sustainability expectations represents an unprecedented commitment to greater transparency and sustainability in the battery industry as captured in the GBA 2030 Vision”.
